Current Events Discussion

Participants discuss national, local and international** current events.  We aim to provide a place where people can explore ideas and express points of view in an educated and non-confrontational way.

The format of the meetings can be either:

  • a one hour detailed exploration of a topic, led by a group member or members, with the second hour a facilitator-led discussion on various current topics, or

  • a two hour “bring your own topic” session where various members give introductions on very current topics and then lead short discussions on them.

Subject matter is wide-ranging.  This Fall, members have signed up for such topics as Where is Brexit Heading, Home Care, Immigration Policy, and the Process of Public Art.  The sessions are fun, and a great opportunity for some intellectual stimulation, together with socializing with interesting people from a variety of backgrounds.
