A new year and new opportunities are ahead for CALL.

CALL has officially moved into cSPACE King Edward at 1721 29 Ave. SW Room 310. The van of furniture arrived on January 10, 2017 and with the able work of Mary Lou Kerr and Robert Scott the tables and chairs were set up for the first interest group, WordFreaks, Uke Jam! and one of the bridge groups have all met in this location. Each of the groups reported positive experiences and there were comments about the future potential for this site, and some recommendations to make the experience even more amenable for the interest groups.

To repeat what has been stated on earlier occasions, cSPACE is an addition to our other meeting places and not the exclusive site for all of CALL’s activities. This location is, however, for the exclusive use of CALL. Members of the program committee are working on a process to gradually build the number of groups at cSPACE and manage bookings.

Construction continues on the West Wing that will house the theatre and some of the common meeting rooms including a shared kitchen. This area is expected to be completed in the fall on this year. The elevator may be occupied by a few remaining tenants who are still moving in. Neither of these items have dampened the enthusiastic response of those CALL groups that have met at cSPACE.

There is parking on the site near the northeast entrance to the building and signage should be in place. The building construction and the furnishing of our room continue to be works in progress as is the discovery of all we can do and be at this new location. This is an exciting new year for CALL – filled with new opportunities for members and programs. We look forward to seeing you at cSPACE as well as at other program and committee locations. We will also keep you posted of ongoing developments.

Wishing all CALL members an exciting year of new adventures in learning, community and connections.

Lynda Cherry
President, CALL Board of Directors
